28 March 2012
45 projects worth 30.1 million Euros from European funds were approved for financing by the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Romania - Republic of Serbia IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme during the fifth meeting which took place in Timisoara, on the 26th of March 2012. The event was attended by representatives at the regional and central level, as well as by civil society representatives from the two participating countries, Romania and Republic of Serbia.
At the meeting, the projects submitted under the second call for proposals were selected. The second call was launched on 25 March 2011 and closed on 27 June 2011, and had a budget of approximately 15.3 million Euros from European funds. The 196 proposals submitted were worth about 97 million Euros.
Given the quality of the project proposals evaluated, the Joint Monitoring Committee decided for the full use of the financial allocations for the period 2010-2013 to finance 45 projects.
Of the 45 projects, 5 projects, worth 6.9 million Euros, were approved for Priority Axis 2 "Environment and emergency preparedness", following the launch of a thematic call dedicated to the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR).
